what is a heat wave anyway?

we are having a heat wave. at least that is what everyone around here is calling it. i have tried to run in it twice already. it wasn't pretty.

it got me curious to see what the definition of a heat wave really is.

webster defines it (dated 1893) as a period of unusually hot weather. wikipedia defines it as a prolonged period of excessively hot weather, which may be accompanied by high humidity. there is no universal definition of a heat wave; the term is relative to the unusual weather in the area.

my definition of a heat wave is a heat that is so horrific that when you go to inhale you feel as though you are inhaling lava down your throat, the wind blowing feels like a dryer on the highest heat setting, the power bill the highest of the year, waking up wet with sweat, legs burning from sitting on the car seat, and exhaustion from trying to entertain the kids inside because it is so freakin hot you can't go outside.

i may never eat again.

Against my better judgement I watched a show last night called mystery diagnosis. this show was about a dancer who got really sick and it turns out it was from worms she got when she ate sushi. i really like sushi and i kinda knew from the beginning that i shouldn't keep watching but i did. sushi is something i eat weekly - sometimes twice a week and it isn't always cooked.

it only got worse. they then had a scientist do some experiments on fish from a random fish market in the states to see what level of fish had the worms in them and it was so gross. i had screaming kids interrupting me but the bottom line i got was a lot of them had lots of worms in them and you are suppose to only eat fish that have been frozen for a while or cooked right or you could have live worms on your plate and ingest them.

any harm to your body?

i've decided my body is either going to be attacked by worms or i am going to get lead poisoning from eating a can good or drinking juice or get contaminated some way from taking tylenol.

could i ever be an iron girl??

iron girl is so appealing to me. my sisters, my girlfriends all racing together - no big sweaty cocky boys trying to beat the girls.

i think i am going to start training for it and plan on participating in a couple of years (no pressure :))

I wanna be a rockstar....

so i am mid 30's now and lately i keep questioning what i have done so far with my life. this is all about me - just me, has nothing to do with my family (one part of my life i wouldn't change). i question my decisions in college, my degrees, and my career. i question the way people perceive me and who i really am. i feel like i am "taking the easy way out" on everything and just settling. i'm in such a funk about it. i think i need to do some soul searching a figure out what is best for me and the fam and work on a plan. i keep thinking - i only get one chance to live this life - there is no retake. maybe i need to hit the self-help section :)

it's vacation time! every memorial weekend we take a trip with my sister and her family and my bff that i have known almost my whole life (i know i was under 1 when we met). this year with our new addition it brings the grand total to 8 kiddos under 10. the ages are 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9!! i know we are crazy. but i keep saying we are making memories, right?
